Erika Maribel Heredia

CV & portfolio

My story begins when I discovered that I was interested in human communication, especially that which occurred in the mass media. In this sense, after trying audiovisual languages, studying video and television, I realized that in each audiovisual production there is a very strong imprint of the culture that generates it.
Looking for that cultural imprint, I turned my way towards the humanities, this time exploring the language of literature, trying to find methods that would allow me to analyze cultural objects.
It was then that I realized that culture was being affected by the technological explosion that is unstoppable. In this sense, scholars of the humanities must be attentive to cultural changes and how they are influenced by our past and our future.
In this way, when we create cultural objects that can be a design, a text or a video, we are not only creating functional messages, but we are transferring part of our vision of the world, of the experiences we go through, of the narratives that feed us.
Being a humanist academic in these times is therefore an act of communicative responsibility.
The treasured objects here account for my long journey. I show them how they were, with their mistakes, with their successes, with their valuable things and the experiences they left me.
